IAP2 Australasia Leadership Forum

IMG20141023091444IAP2 Australasia is one of affiliate within IAP2 International Federation. From 22-23 October 2014, IAP2 Australasia organised a two days leadership forum, namely “Leadership, Evidence and Advancing the Practice (LEAP)”. The leadership forum was held in Sidney, Australia. Presiding Member IAP2 Indonesia Affiliate, Aldi Muhammad Alizar, was attending these event after accepted the invitation from IAP2 Australasia and learn from them on how to lead and advancing public participation practices.

The event was opened by Ms. Leanne Hartil, new Chairman of IAP2 Australasi Affiliate. Most of participants came from all over Australia, including New Zealand and Tasmania. Also, some participants from South Africa who won IAP2 International Core Value Award.

Core Value Award winners were briefly presenting their initiatives to participants and answered some questions from them. IMG20141023162324Many of questions from participants to better understand on how and why of the award-winning initiatives. One of interesting matter for Aldi was that some local (such as Cities) government has developed their community engagement policy and framework. One of them is City of Melbourne.

After the forum, Aldi Muhammad Alizar was invited by IAP2 Australasia to visit their Wollongong City, New South Wales, Australia. The city is about 1,5 hours from Sydney City. One of the activity was to have a short discussion with Lord Major Councillor, Mr. Gordon Bradbery OAM. He shared his lessons learnt on the Citizen Panel process that was undertaken recently. Aldi Muhammad Alizar also learned that the City has a good Community Enggagement Policy, based on the City Future Plan. And to enhance their policy, community engagement framework was produced as guidance for their Community Engagement Management team and its Citizen. (Admin)
